Venarchie Contracting Company History

Venarchie Contracting, founded by Allan Virieux over 20 years ago, has grown from humble beginnings to an integrated business providing a variety of pavement solutions to government, businesses and individuals across Tasmania.

Venarchie’s growth has been organic and exponential. From a two man crew with a small excavator and truck in 1989, Venarchie now employ around 100 staff at sites throughout the state. The plant & equipment fleet of heavy equipment, road transport and light vehicles now stands at over 200 items supported by a dedicated workshop employing qualified mechanics and apprentices.

In 2006 Venarchie purchased and installed a state-of-art asphalt plant at the head office premises in Mowbray (near Launceston) in the north of the State. This investment enables us to better meet customers’ needs as we are able to manage the supply chain and guarantee reliable availability of asphalt and materials.

The civil construction division of the company has expanded significantly and is now equivalent in size to the asphalt and bitumen surfacing divisions. Venarchie employ a team of qualified and experienced engineers to ensure all projects are technically accurate and professionally managed.

As the company has grown, Venarchie have invested heavily in management systems for OH&S, Quality and Environmental and achieved accreditation at Australian Standards. Venarchie currently employ a professionally qualified and experienced OH&S manager, Financial Controller and Human Resources officer and a team of accounts and administrative support staff.
